Not Much To Look at Here...

There isn't a whole lot to say right now, namely 'cause I've worked a series of turn and burn, 12 hour shifts over the past few days. That's left precious little chances to do much more than sleep and work, so...I've fallen behind the times.

I do have a few links from my Google News Alert system worth sharing, so I'll use that as a cop out tonight:

Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are having trouble with Obama's Afghanistan plan...but for different reasons. Members from Ohio aren't any different.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are having problems money-wise, and the possibility of them finding a new home has surfaced (even if it isn't seriously on the table yet). While Mayor Coleman is pretty fired up about trying to find a solution, Franklin County Commissioners are a little less enthusiastic.

So that's it. For today. I have bigger plans for Thursday...but at the moment, I need to get back to focusing on learning to be the boss at my new job.

Your Take: Not So Much

So...either I don't have as many dedicated, interactive readers as I thought, or I picked a really crummy topic for the "Your Take" on Wednesday. Why do I think this? Well, because there were zero comments, e-mails, text messages, or tweets about the post. So, the recap I promised? Won't be happening.

It's a good thing I had a backup plan, eh?

We're less than a month away from the May 5th election. Why, might you ask, should anyone care about an election in May?

Telling you the answer is my back up plan.

There are several issues up for vote in Franklin County:

• Metro Park levy, a renewal and increase issue. Replacing the .65 mill levy that's expiring, and adding a .1 mill on top of that. That's a .75 mill levy, or $0.075 cents per $100 value of property, for ten years.
• Grandview Heights operating levy renewal, 8.3 mills ($0.83 per $100 of value) for the next 3 years.
• Upper Arlington, bond issue. Improvements to library, from furnishing to renovation to land interest. $25,000,000 total, $0.099 per $100 value for 28 years.
• Hamilton and Jefferson Townships, fire protection levies. Hamilton replacement would be $0.30 per $100 value for 5 years, Jefferson renewal would be $0.20 per $100 value for 5 years.
• Canal Winchester emergency school levy. $6,439,000 total funds, $1.482 per each $100 of value for 2 years.
• Groveport Madison school levy. Renewal and increase of an emergency levy. Renewal: $4,508,652. Increase: $3,198,463. Total levy up for vote: $7,707,115 or $0.936 per $100 of value for 3 years.
• Reynoldsburg school operating levy. $1.56 per $100 of value, ongoing.
• South-Western school operating levy. $0.83 per $100 of value, for 4 years.
• Westerville school permanent improvement levy. Renewal of 2.7 mills, increase of 1.25 mills, total 3.95 mills. That's $0.395 for each $100 of value, on going.
• Worthington school operating levy. $0.74 per $100 of value, on going.
• And a couple Columbus local Sunday alochol sales options.
